Peter Phillips, the first grandchild of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II (and the eldest son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips), and the nephew of King Charles III – married British National Health Service pediatric nurse Harriet Sperling during a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire this last summer. The couple reportedly met at a hockey event in which both their daughters (from previous marriages) were participating. Harriet’s daughter, Giorgina Sperling (13), and Peter Phillips’ two daughters, Savannah Phillips (15) and Isla Phillips (14) were bridesmaids at the wedding. Harriet Phillips has won the British public’s affections as the ‘real deal’. Her dedication to her nursing career is greatly admired, as is her successful navigation of the difficult terrain of divorce and single motherhood. Her non-showiness also represents the new style of monarchy. There were shouts of “hip hip hooray” as the bride arrived at the church alongside her three bridesmaids. Naturally, Prince William and Princess Catherine were in attendance.
