Sir Ringo Starr’s annual birthday Peace and Love movement began in 2008 when he invited everyone all over the world to think, say, or post #peaceandlove at noon on July 7th their time – to fulfill his birthday wish of a wave of Peace and Love encircling the planet.
This year the famous Beatle celebrated his 84th birthday at his Peace and Love statue in Beverly Hills with chants of his trademark slogan as well as the happy birthday serenade. He danced on stage to live music and joked with the crowd, “you can dance if you want too,” and then he quipped with his charismatic charm, “I’ll be in my room eating cake.”
Sir Ringo commented on how much his Peace and Love movement has grown since 2008. He said, “I am getting overwhelmed, there are so many of you now, we started with like 50 people in 2008. I am truly grateful that you all turned up today otherwise I’d be lonely – all I do is say peace and love.”
Sir Paul McCartney sent his wishes to Sir Ringo for a “fabulous 84th birthday.”
