George and Amal Clooney have just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and it was fitting that they celebrated it in Venice – the city where they tied the knot in 2014. They were both attending the premiere of George’s new film, ‘Wolfs’ at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

Amal was dressed in an Atelier Versace lace gown featuring a ruffled skirt in one of this year’s most vibrant colors – butter yellow. George wore a black tuxedo with lace-up Oxford shoes.

The couple’s world-famous love story is a testament to the power of meeting the right person. In an interview with Vogue, George described how Amal, the Oxford law graduate, turned up to a dinner party at his Italian villa in Lake Como in July 2013. A mutual friend had brought them together.

“It’s the wildest thing,” George said. “A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by, and can I bring my friend?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’ The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked, and we stayed up all night talking.”

He went on to say in a New York Times interview:

“I dated a lot of really terrific women, but Amal showed up and suddenly it was like, ‘Well, this is different on every level for me.’”

Suddenly, spending his life with this right person became his most obvious choice.

“There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me. No question, it was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me.”

In an interview in 2018 with Vogue, Amal said:

“I always hoped there could be love that was overwhelming and didn’t require any weighing or decision-making. It’s the thing you have the least control over. Are you going to meet this person? I was 35 when I met George.”

George told the Hollywood Reporter:

“We were a team from right off the bat. Immediately, we felt we were just happy, and we have been happy ever since.”

He also described his first official romantic date with Amal in London in October 2013.

“She was living in London, and I went to London to score a movie. And I thought, if you’re ever gonna impress anybody, it’s at Abbey Road with a 150-piece orchestra. I called her up and said, ‘You want to come see and visit over at Abbey Road?’

11 months later, the couple had their romantic and elegant wedding in Venice.

Their twins, Ella and Alexander, completed their family in June 2017. In an exclusive interview with E!News at their annual Albies event, hosted by the Clooney Foundation, Amal confirmed that their 7-year-old twins definitely knew that their mama was a lawyer.

“Yeah, when they play games, when someone goes to prison, they’re like, ‘It’s okay, Mama can get them out.’”

But on whether they’ve seen anything from their father’s filmic repertoire, George gave a resounding, “No.” He explained further:

“I don’t want them to for the most part. But they did say to me one day when they came home from school, ‘What’s ‘famous?’ We didn’t want to explain.”
